How to Add an Image to a Quiz or Mini-Quiz
Mini-Quizzes have become a fad in today's busy society as countless individuals are looking for different ways to relieve their stress. Many find these quizzes habit-forming because players only need a grasp of general knowledge to succeed. Because of the popularity of Mini-Quizzes, it is slowly developing into a favorite pastime and gradually becoming at par with other hobby games such as online poker and chess. Here is an article that shows what mini-quizzes are all about.

There are a number of places where Quizzes and Mini-Quizzes on Memegen.net give you the option to add an image. In every such place, there are two tabs: Image Link and Use Photobucket.

If the image you wish to add is already hosted online and you have a link to the location of the image file, then you can simply copy-and-paste the full web address (http://www.example.com/folder/image.jpg) into the text box there. If the address you've given is accurate, a thumbnail (a tiny compressed version) of the image should appear to the right of the text box, indicating success. Once you hit save, the image (the FULL image, not just the thumbnail) will be added to that part of your Quiz (to appear with a question, as an answer in place of text, or above a result) or Mini-Quiz Random Image Select Field (adding that image to the list of images, one of which will be displayed in the field each time the Mini-Quiz is taken).

If the image is hosted in your photobucket.com account, or if you have the image on your computer and not being hosted online, you can instead select the Use Photobucket tab. If you have an existing photobucket account, use your Username and Password to sign in to their service and select the image you want from one of your albums. Once you've selected the desired image, click [Paste Image] and the text box should reappear with the photobucket hotlink automatically filled in, and the image thumbnail displayed. If you do not have a photobucket account, you can register for a FREE account from the link below the login section. Photobucket uses email confirmation, so you will have to complete their entire registration process before returning to this page. It should only take a minute. You can then use the browse button to find the image or images you want on your computer and upload them one at a time to photobucket's hosting service, then select an image and hit [Paste Image] as above.

NOTE: There are several important concerns when putting image links in your Quiz of Mini-Quiz on Memegen.net:

  • MemeGen.net does not host image files. Any images which you use must be hosted elsewhere online.
  • Images linked by a Quiz or Mini-Quiz may be downloaded a LARGE number of times. Even a moderately popular Mini-Quiz can cause images within it to be loaded thousands of times or more. Many image hosts are unprepared for the bandwidth usage caused by a large number of requests.
  • If you do not control the image host, it is possible that the image may be removed without your knowledge or consent. This would result in a broken-link wherever that image was displayed.
  • It is unethical and in some cases unlawful to link to images which do not belong to you.
  • To help with the issue of image hosting, Memegen.net uses an inline photobucket.com widget for image management. By registering with photobucket.com, you can upload any images you wish to link to their hosting service. Because photobucket has generous image bandwidth limits compared to other free image hosting services, it is a safe and reliable way to post images to link from your Quizzes or Mini-Quizzes. HOWEVER, you can of course link to images hosted anywhere, as long as you are mindful of the concerns listed above.
  • If you like photobucket.com's image hosting service, they also offer inexpensive paid hosting options with greatly enhanced services. Check their website for more details.

Memegen.net Quizzes and Mini-Quizzes should be able to display images in any format that are accepted by the Quiz-taker's web browser, as long as the image URL is valid and not blocked in any way. Some hosting software may automatically block access to images which exceed a certain amount of bandwidth in a period (week, month, etc) by being downloaded too often. If this results in broken links appearing in your Quizzes or Mini-Quizzes, you may wish to contact the image hosting service, or open an account with photobucket.com, because their image hotlinking bandwidth limit may be more generous.
